Crookies are a hybrid dessert combining the best of both cookies and brownies. They feature a crispy edge with a soft, chewy center, thanks to the right baking time and ingredients like cocoa powder and chocolate chips.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
In a separate large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time and add vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed in the dough.
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. The edges should be golden brown, and the centers should remain soft and slightly gooey.
Allow the crookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
To ensure the perfect texture, avoid overbaking. Every oven is different, so start checking at 10 minutes to ensure the centers remain soft.
