Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls are a beloved treat, perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet snack. These rolls are made with a rich dough, aromatic cinnamon sugar filling, and topped with a creamy frosting for the ultimate indulgence.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a sticky dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch the dough down and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
Spread the softened butter for the filling over the dough. In a bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it evenly over the buttered dough.
Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and cut it into 12 rolls. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for 30 minutes.
Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool slightly.
For the frosting, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and creamy, then spread over the warm cinnamon rolls.
Notes
If you want to make the rolls ahead of time, prepare them up to the point of baking, cover, and refrigerate overnight. The next morning, simply bake as instructed.
